Environmental Management Systems

During 2008 and 2009, the federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) conducted onsite audits of the Mercer University Macon & Atlanta campuses. 

Mercer entered into an agreement with the EPA to establish an Environmental Management System (EMS), for the purpose of maintaining daily operations in compliance with EPA regulations.

Mercer created EMS Manuals for the Macon and Atlanta campuses:
  • The manuals (EMS program guidance documents) were developed by the Mercer EHSO and Physical Plant Department.
  • The guidelines apply to all university operations: academic, research, administrative, and special events.
